Coworker does something oddball

Every thursday we get free donuts and kolaches here at work. Im not a big fan of donuts, but I do like kolaches so I usually take a donut and a few kolaches.

Anyways, I noticed one of the fairly new coworkers take a couple donuts and kolaches. He then proceeded to do the following: take a napkin, chew on the donut for a little while, spit it back into the napkin, then throw it away. He did the same with the kolaches too, and did not really try to hide that he did this. I asked him why he did that, and he said that he liked the taste of donuts alot, but was pretty much on a health food diet and did not want to gain weight from eating donuts/kolaches. I found it a little strange, but he said that he does not take any more than a normal person would and it should not affect anybody around here. He is not a fat person either, in fact he is in pretty decent shape ( about 6'0" 175 lbs from what I can guess). Kind of weird.

EDIT: The thing is that the guy who he replaced used to eat like 3 donuts and 3 kolaches on average, and was a pretty fat dude. Thats why I am just wondering if he is actually helping us out.

and yeah, waste of food too

yeah, I asked him about that but he said that he does not swallow anything, and rinses his mouth out with water afterwards. He is kind of a weird dude to begin with though.......

That could be the weirdest thing I'll hear all day.

Ah, give the n00bs that work here a chance, they'll wipe boogers all over the place or something.

Whoever buys the donuts should punch him in the face though, stat.

he's still getting sugar since the saliva will dissolve the sugar crystals and be in his mouth after spitting.... MAYBE

what the hell is a kolache?

i've heard of a diet where people chew their food and spit it out. it's to get all the vitamins/protein/minerals without the fat or something. a lot of boxers supposedly do it to keep fit.

Sounds like a mild case of bulimia nervosa, he just doesn't go through the swallowing phase....

Try kicking him in the face. It might help.

I guess everything serves some sort of purpose eh. Weird though. Search the threads for "booger bandit". You'll see a prime example of a resident smacktard that sits about 25 feet from me.

I've done that before. It's because some people crave the taste of food, but know they shouldn't be eating them. So instead of eating the food, they are getting what they crave, the taste.
Why do people eat donuts? Because they taste very good. There is really no other reason to eat them. Even if you are hungry, there are far better things you could be putting in your body.

If he did it privately I would say "that's pretty weird but who cares." That he does it publicly at work is just fvcking zany 😕

FYI, this will infact prevent almost all the calories from entering your body. The function of the saliva is to break down sugars for easier absorption in the small intestine. Your mouth does not actually absorb any appreciable amount of food.

PS: i know the logical response is to say that there are drugs that are absorbed orally, and while this is true, VERY LITTLE sugar or food is going to be taken up.

So you're saying that residual food particles and/or sugar will not be left over in the mouth? Must be some pretty powerful spitting technique to cleanse the oral cavity of 100% of food.

I'm going to start doing this whenever I eat in public. I think I'll start by going to Burger King and ordering a double whopper with cheese and bacon, a shake, and fries. Then spit it all on the tray as I'm eating. I wonder if I be able to cause anyone to vomit.
