Cowher Stepping down as Pittsburgh Steelers Head Coach

He had a good career, won a superbowl, made lots of money. Why not take time to enjoy the money and let someone else coach the Raven's scrimmage team?

Guess we can start speculating on which coach will be fired after the 2007 season so Cowher can replace him.

I hate to see Cowher leave Pittsburgh. Seeing him scream on the sidelines was more than half of the show when watching Pittsburgh play.

A few of us were tearin up in the cafeteria when he was doing his last press conference (it's currently on ESPN). I can't imagine a Steelers team without him, honestly.

This is brilliant. He retires now to take 1 - 2 years to recharge the batteries. Then gets a huge salary to come back in 2009 to some desperate NFL team to turn things around.

Umm, that would be John Fox at Carolina. heard somebody on ESPN already mention that this morning. Cowher has a home down here in NC.

But Fox is doing a pretty good job. So I don't know if that job will be open.

I hope they stay within the Steelers organization for a new coach. Dick LeBeau or Ken Whisenhunt would both make excellent Steelers coaches. If they take someone like Jim Mora or another fired coach from outside, I'd be so irate.

He should have quit last year after that shameful Superbowl.

Guess you should ask all the other coaches to quit too, since they couldn't do what that Steelers team did.

The Steelers own Cowhers rights through the 2007 season. So, whatever team that should entice Cowher to coach would cost them huge. ($$ and/or draft picks to Pittsburgh).

Here's my prediction:

Cowher will replace Parcells after he retires and be the next Cowboys coach.

After Ohio State wins the national championship, Jim Tressel will be the next coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Rumors around here is that Tressel is definately interested in coaching pro- he can leave college if he wins Monday.

That 'superbowl' win last year was fraudulent. He shoulda stayed on and gotten a real SB win without help from the refs.

Interesting and plausible scenario.

Oh, I think Cowher will take the next season (2007) off. It would be 2008 or 2009 when he may want to come back.

And as for Dallas, can't see it. He and Jerry Jones are way different types. Remember taht Cowher & his wife went NC State University and like NC. Now I could see Cowher getting along quite well with Panthers owner. But unless the Panthers have a bad year or two I don't see Fox getting fired.

I'm not a pittsburgh or seattle fan. I'm also not a fan of any of the other AFC-N teams. So i consider myself very unbiased on this matter:

The refs allowed Pitt to play very loosely while they called ticky tack fouls against the seahawks. I think i read somewhere that the 'hawks were penalized 4 times more than pitt. Plus you guys shredded Carson Palmer's knee. TAINTED.

As a Steeler fan, I hope they stay in house and promote Russ Grimm.

I expect Ken Whisenhunt to go to Atlanta.

Supposedly LeBeau wants nothing to do with being a head coach again, and that's fine, let him stay running the D.

You need to look no further than the AFC Divisional playoff game against the Colts to see the exact same thing happen, but against the Steelers.

And I don't think it was Kimo's fault that he was blocked into Carson Palmer.
