Lazy, scared of needles anti vax people you suck. I know all this “concern” is simply many people being afraid of needles.

Sadly, I think some of it may boil down to peer pressure too. I've got nothing to back this up, but I bet there are some out there that secretly would like the vaccine, but feel they'd be ridiculed by their friends/coworkers if they found out.

Long ago I came up with a technique I use to resolve these sorts of scenarios that I like to call lying.

"...wise and beautiful woman" had to have been a baddie word the Anandtech software morphed into a mega-euphemism. Yeah, you are really pissed, and I say righteously. "The wrath of the lion is the wisdom of god." - William Blake

"Orange C*nt" is exactly what I expressed.

Italy did the same. And a number of US Hospitals were drawing up similar plans. Healthcare resources are finite. Whether that is staff, beds, PPE, ventilators, ect. The entire concept of "flatten the curve" was to prevent that surge on resources. Once you breach that and there simply isn't enough of something you need, you have to start triaging.

I don't know what point or conclusion you are trying to draw, but this is a reality.

Yes I understand. I was making a relevant post, in the proper thread as to how bad it is. No conclusion whatsoever.

People so against illegal immigration should take note that the covid is but only one reason why illegals try so hard to get into our country. Where America is doing great with vaccinations and has plenty of shots, other countries are not doing so well so obviously living in America vs Mexico or India would be preferable. And at any cost.

I had a real fear this would happen in the US. We were real close to hospitals being overrun, triage and mass graves.
I don’t think many people understand how close we came to a scenario like India.
Going forward I think we will be fine even though we won’t stamp it out because it is looking like we will not reach enough vaccinated for herd immunity. The virus will slowly simmer around the country for years.

Not afraid of needle but I will not do what government demands I do which is to get vaccinated.

Why did you chose the US political term death panel when it has nothing to do with the article you linked where individual doctors at hospitals in India are having to make life and death decisions under tremendous pressure.

"Death panel" is a political term that originated during the 2009 debate about federal health care legislation to cover the uninsured in the United States.[1] Sarah Palin, former Republican Governor of Alaska and Vice Presidential Candidate in 2008, coined the term when she charged that proposed legislation would create a "death panel" of bureaucrats who would carry out triage, i.e. decide whether Americans—such as her elderly parents, or children with Down syndrome—were "worthy of medical care".[2] Palin's claim has been referred to as the "death panel myth",[3] as nothing in any proposed legislation would have led to individuals being judged to see if they were worthy of health care.[4]

I'd be charitable and just assume they didn't really have anything particular in mind in using that phrase. Triage is a pretty common practice, usually in battlefield situations, and it's a symptom of how bad things have become in India that it's relevant there now.

There are always questions of how to allocate finite resources, wars and pandemics being just extreme examples. But it arises in all situations of public health as well, hence the use of concepts like QALYs . Palin's stupid coinage of "death panels" was just an attempt to try and conflate the wider question of resource allocation with the most extreme case - but if the term fits anywhere its those extreme situations, like on the battlefield, or what's happening in India now.

I mean, if you are deciding how to allocate tax-funds for public health or socialised healthcare, you need some way to determine that it's more cost-effective to spend money on, say, cancer treatments than breast-enlargements or tattoo-removal.

The debate is whether that decision should be based on attempts to quantify the value of different medical expenditures using something like QALYs or if it should be based solely on how wealthy the person who wants the treatment is. Do you want doctors and politicians on your 'death panel' or accountants? Either way you can't avoid them.

I don't think the gov't is demanding it. It is highly recommended, but not mandated.

That being said, are you saying the reason you aren't getting vaccinated is because you are being told you should? Grow up.

Partially yes but also because i want to see long term side effect from this vaccine if any.
