Covert DigSatTV files into MPEG/DVD

Hi:
I have a question regarding video format conversion. Using a Digital Satellite receiver, I am able to make recording of TV program in the form of 3 or more output file with .VTX, .VID and .AUD extension. I would like to transfer those recorded files to a harddisk on my PC and convert them into MPEG or DVD format. Is that any easy way of doing this? What kind of software do I need? I would appreciate your pointers as to what the different file extensions really mean and your thoughts on the best way to perform the conversion and editing process. Many Thanks in advance!

Those are probably just extensions and some sort of container for mpeg4 or divx or something like that. I doubt that VTX/VID/AUD is it's own compression format.

If you can get it on the computer your going to have to find a way to get it into a known file format (like avi or something).
