covers on nb hs make things hotter?

got the x58 ud3r for a build and it sure seems to me that the covers (say gigabyte and such on them) over the pwm and nb hsf's, while looking spiffy, block airflow to the hs fins under them...

it's not like there's lots of room for air to get in from the side... and the things are pretty hot... the pipe between them is pretty toasty, even with a fan blowing right down on them...

anyone pull them off?

i pulled the 'asus' thing off the nb on the p5q i built a couple weeks ago, but it was just kind of a heavy duty sticker... these things are a bit chunkier...

OP's referring to removing just the blue metal "cap" from the top of the heatsink, so air can get to the fins better. I have pondered this myself

I was going to do this and forgot. From what I've read, a pair of needlenose pliers should be enough to pop them off. You can always wedge a razor blade in to start it.

I've done this to all of my MSI motherboards. MSI uses what is basically an aluminum sticker.
