I've put together a gaming build based off of suggestions and similar builds I've seen here and some other forums and just wanted to make sure everything was reasonable before I went ahead and ordered.
1. What YOUR PC will be used for. That means what types of tasks you'll be performing.
It'll be mostly used for gaming, some university homework on the side.
2. What YOUR budget is. A price range is acceptable as long as it's not more than a 20% spread
The build I have together now is in the 700-800 range before taxes/shipping/MIR. I'd love to shave some off of that, or even go a little higher if the performance boost is worth it.
3. What country YOU will be buying YOUR parts from.
Canada, eh.
4. IF YOU have a brand preference.
Nope.
5. If YOU intend on using any of YOUR current parts, and if so, what those parts are.
I've already ordered a 1GB GTX 460 and a G.Skills Ripjaws 2x4GB kit (today's Shell Shocker). And I'll be using my old monitors, keyboard & mouse.
6. IF YOU have searched and/or read similar threads.
Mhm. Been looking around for a while.
7. IF YOU plan on overclocking or run the system at default speeds.
It'd be a mortal sin if I didn't OC, I figure.
8. What resolution YOU plan on gaming with.
1680 x 1050. I may upgrade to 1080p monitors in the future, but for now I'll be sticking with my old ones at least until I can afford a good upgrade.
9. WHEN do you plan to build it?
I'd like to have everything ordered this month. I'm holding out for some sort of Father's Day or Canada Day sale.
CPU: i5 2500K
HSF: CM 212+
Mobo: GA-Z68A-D3H
RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws 2x4GB DDR3 1333MHz 1.5V
Video Card: GTX 460 1GB
HDD; WD Caviar Black 500GB
PSU: Antec NEO ECO 520C
Case: Antec Three Hundred Illusion (I can get it shipped cheaper than the regular 300)
Any glaring errors/omissions?
