First, some speculation on AMD/ATI going to be changing up some of their AIB's again Currently it looks like Gecube is being cut, and some rumors about Asus possibly being cut too. It would also seem they are adding Colorful.
Rumor -- Translated.

Second, Gigabyte is going to start using "Ultra Durable VGA" in some of their graphics cards; you know the same innovation that went into the UD3 Motherboards (2 oz copper, etc, etc.) Could this lead to higher OC's on Gigabyte VGA's?
Gigabyte News.

ASUS leaving he ATI scene would be a shame. Does Gecube only sell in Europe? I have not seen anything from them before.

Don't care about Gecube so no big loss there, but Colorful? Who? And possibly dropping Asus? What? That would be a stupid move IMO.

Seems Gecube and Asus are leaving AMD they are not being cut. Looks like it is due to poor sales.

Never seen anywhere i can buy Gecube.

Asus cards are overpriced 99% of the time.

So personally, i don't care.

It's nice having XFX...they just need to get eVGA & BFG now ;)

Love to have your sources. As n7 said, I am not sure how asus sells any cards at the prices they charge here.

No kidding... I remember when someone with "sources" was dead-set certain the Radeon 4650/4670 would be 256-bit not 128...

Does Asus sell both ATi and nVidia cards? I seem to recall they had that dual 6800 gpu and the triple 3850 gpu. So they sure like to go extreme, which makes cutting Asus sound unintelligent.
As for Gecube, they used to sell in the states right? I remember the Sapphire x800gto^2 and the Gecube x800gto were sold on newegg and both actually had x850 cores.

ASUS ATI CARDS WERE ALWAYS OVERPRICED ANYWAY! i never cared for them.

just more profit for the other vendors i guess. ATI is doing pretty well at the end of 08 and now into 09

Gecube also sells in Australia, pretty good with the prices, Asus however, has always appealed to a niche, making cards with different coolers that cost much more than the stock, adequate models everyone else makes.
ATI's marketshare has increased, so therefore, a vendor's loss means another's gain

ASUS probably make some of the best cards out there. You of course do pay a premium for it, but you often pay a premium for any sort of top of the line part.

I don't think ASUS cards are really that much different from other vendors. Does ASUS make their own cards? I was under the impression they just fit their cooling/labeling solutions onto the reference cards like most everyone else.

I would not be surprised if they make their own cards, although I don't know if they stray much at all from the reference design. They do offer customer coolers and great software/accessory bundles.

If you just need a plain card they are generally not the way to go. But if you like a lot of extras they often provide the most.

I have had a few over the years and really like them.

Although virtually every motherboard I every bought was from ASUS.

Asus cards are always expensive but generally have impressive bundles.

My first modern card was an Asus ATI 9600XT 128mb back in the summer of 04.

It cost $189,99 from the 'Egg and included;
Asus Smart Doctor which let you set fan profiles and overclock on warranty from 500/600 to 530/650.

VIVO coupled with basic DVR software.

A half dozen video and graphic utilities.

The games bundle included;
Gumetal
Battle Engine Aquila
A six game demo disk
Half Life 2 coupon which got me;
-HL2
-HL2 Lost Coast
-CS Source
-HL1
-CS1.6
-All the original HL mods on Steam

Plus a nifty cd case I use to hold my game disks and a three year warranty.

GeCube sells in South Africa, normally very well priced here. As for "colorful" they probably mean PowerColour?
