Cover a speaker with more fabric?

I received a nice new center speaker for my surround sound for Christmas. It's silver, and I really want black because it'll blend in nicely and be unobtrusive. I was thinking that I'd just buy some black speaker fabric and spend some time nicely covering the thing with it. I'm sure I can get it to look respectable, but I'm worried about sound quality.

Will an extra layer of speaker fabric have a nasty effect on the sound?

Where can I buy a large, nice piece of speaker fabric?

Thanks.

Paint it. If it is plastic, Krylon Fusion works really well.
If you are talking about just the speaker cover, I'm not sure how that would affect sound quality. Buy the cloth and give it a try.

I thought about painting the case and just trying to recover the speaker cover, but I don't want to hurt the resale value of it since I like to buy new speakers semi-regularly. If I just cover the whole thing with fabric it'll protect the speaker and make it easy to return it to original when I sell.
