Courthouse shootout leaves three dead

TYLER, Texas (AP) -- A man angry about being sued for unpaid child support opened fire with an AK-47 assault rifle outside a courthouse, killing his ex-wife and a man trying to help the couple's adult son.
That's messed up.

"The gunman walked up to Wilson and shot him while he was on the ground," Clyde said. "I couldn't believe what I was seeing. It was sickening."

If he ran them off the road this wouldn't have made the news, but they'd still be dead.

But it can't be denied that it is alot easier to shoot them with an assault rifle than to get them into a car and run them off the road.

WTF didnt they take away his guns if he had a history of violence?

Pretty sad.

*cough* Texas *cough*

Riiiight, and I suppose that implies that no gun related crimes take place in other states.
One of those individuals killed happened to have a conceal and carry permit. Perhaps that man did save other lifes due to him carrying a weapon. There may have been more than two deaths (not counting the crazy gunman) if the bystander did not open fire on the crazed gunman.

I suppose, though, you think we are the ignorant rednecks down here.

Idiot.

So... things that make it easier to kill people shouldn't be allowed? It's easier to kill somebody with a rock than with your bare hands. I think we should outlaw rocks.

Obviously this in an extreme example, but I hope you can get the point. You should outlaw things that are bad, not things that "could be bad in the wrong hands." Especially since guns can be good in the right hands (fighting off criminals who will have guns regardless of legality, etc).

I hope you are being sarcastic. I would hate to think you are so misinformed.

How is that misinformed?

because it is not every American's right to bear arms.

Says who?

The law.

15yr olds might be Americans, but are not allowed to bear arms.
The mentally ill might be Americans, but are not allowed to bear arms.
Convicted felons might be Americans, but are not allowed to bear arms.
Any one who has had a domestice violences charge against them might be American, but are not allowed to bear arms.

And depending on what state you live, there are various other laws that stop Americans from being allowed to bear arms.

🙂

How is an AK-47(which I want to really know if that's what this was) any different from another rifle -- let's say a 308 Winchester?

considering it is less accurate and less deadly than a good deer rifle, i don't know. and it isn't any faster firing than any other semi automatic gun.

I just dont see the need for a AK-47... Doesnt that just scream kamakazi and watch out im about to go off?

Since I own one, I must be ready to flip out at any moment.

The media (and police sometimes) are usually really bad at identifying the actual weapon used.

How so? It is a semi-auto just like many other rifles. I guess you are scared of it because it looks scary?

I'm sure we don't need TVs, chocolate, computers, etc. either.
