The death penalty is retarded. They suffer more with life in prison without the chance of parole. Hell, I'd rather die than be in prison for 10 years. I couldn't fathom life without freedom. Besides, the way our death penalty works is basically the way everyone wants to go...a needle in the vain to eliminate the pain...fall asleep and die...

Take my freedom, take my life please.

So if you really want to punish people, make them suffer by being in prison for life. Still, I don't think any kid who killed one person, pre-meditated or not, should have life in prison or execution. I did some stupid crap when I was younger, and even though I knew better I still did it. Kids have lapses in judgement, and you have to forgive mistakes like that...punish them, but forgive them. The problem I see is that we simply do not punish people correctly. I think all prisons should make inmates perform hard labor for their entire sentence...make them work for the right to be free...All prisons should be self-sufficient...the inmates should have to grow their own food, produce their own power, etc...Of course, the prison itself would be powered and have all the supplies it needs for the guards, but the prisoners should have to work to survive.

The death penalty, as mentioned above, is for premeditated murder. If it can be proved, in a court of law, that a 6 year old planned and committed a murder, are we against killing him? I wouldn't, but some would. Anyone who can plan a murder and go through with it does not deserve freedom.
It doesn't even matter, this article is about 16 and 17 year olds. 6 year olds are out of the question. But consider if someone that young can plan a murder and do it, what will they be like in the future? They must be curbed as soon as possible.

Sure, that may well be true, but I don't want to write the checks to keep them well fed in prison.

My tax dollars go to them, I'm sick of that.

If you're going to lock someone up for 50 years, just put them down, but not kids...

Regardless, I think if you're gonna favor killing someone there should be no limits to gender/age/mental state....

I.E. Giving the death penalty to a 13-year-old mentally retarded girl.....

Yea, I bet the media would just eat that up.

May they never have the chance to make it to 30 and say "Wow! What a dumbass I was!"

Yay! I'm thrilled!
