Good deal. $.50 a Gb after rebate and I got a free CD boombox also. None of the coupons work on tech items. I had a 20 of 75 from eBates that wouldn't fly but I used the coupon for the free cd boombox (I am sure it's not great but it will make an OK present for someone). Thanks for the post, it's what I was looking for, (a Maxtor for cheap).

OM gave out over 100 at the store I went to, my guess is 90%+ will never get that raincheck filled. IMHO. But I do have mine though.

Got this today!

Same 80G drive for $109.84 - $60 in mail in rebates (30 to maxtor, 30 to OD) = 49.84 at local B&M.

Could be hotter but not bad for 80G @ under 0.63 per G.

Probably some other coupons out there that could help.

Tried to buy the 80G Seagate at CrapUSA but the assclowns there nixed it for me.

newbie question:

could you order this online and still get the rebates?

if so; how? just using the upc?

Yes sir, the link for rebates is for online purchases. Get it before it is gone...

FYI.. at least all of the Maxtors I have purchased from OD, maybe 10 now all had the fluid bearings.

Installed mine this AM. Box says FDB motor.

As quiet as my last drive or quieter. Of course that was a Maxtor too! :D

BTW, the new software works great!! About 15 minutes to partition into 5 parts, format all and xfer files from old HD. Do you remember how long a new HD install used to take?

Saw the thread over at FW. Couldn't resist. For me, it worked out to about $27, including taxes.
