coupon codes

A. You're right. You can't post that in Hot Deals, except maybe in the How Do I thread.

B. Some stores allow coupon codes, some don't. Some allow some coupon codes, but not others. They distinguish by longer and shorter codes, or the day of the week, or the phase of the moon, or who knows. I've had it work both ways.

The best thing is to try to get the sales person or manager on your side. I usually go up to whoever's going to make the decision and tell them I don't want to do anything against their rules or try to run anything by them. I just want to know if the particular coupon/code is valid in their store.

One way to use online coupon codes is to go to the dot com for the store (Office Depot/Max, Staples, etc.) and print a screen shot of the code being accepted on the day you want to use it. The date on your print out shows them the code is current. If the site carries the same item, at the same price, with the same rebates, etc. you just point out that you could order on line for pickup in the store, and they usually let you cut to the chase without going through the hassle. I've done this many times, and they don't give me any hassle about it.
