Couple z560 questions.

I just went to Best Buy to audition speakers. I know it's not a perfect envoronment/setup for true sound quality but that's all I can do. Anyway, the logitech z560's sounded the best to ME. The Klipsch 5.1's sounded OK but lacked a crisp high end IMO.
So now that that's out of the way, the thing I didn't like about the 560's is the bass seemed like it could be too much at even the lowest setting. What I mean is sometimes (late at night, etc.) I don't want my games booming. Does anyone else who actually have them have any comments on this? Again, it could be the fact that the sub was at chest level when listening to it.
Also do music, games, dvd's all come out of the four speakers? I thought I had read somewhere that only certain applications use all four speakers.
I have my audigy on the way so I wanted to go ahead and pick up some speakers to replace my labtec pulse 424's.

You can underdrive the bass by using the AudioHQ mixer or the MS play control advanced properties, The sub placement does make a difference, all 4 speakers work all the time when you use the front and rear channels with your audigy, with just the front channel, you have to use "M3D" for a 4 speakers to work.

Enjoy your new speakers, I certainly do.

Thank for the reply. I havent got them yet, just listened to them. I may go back down today and pick them up.

So the bass CAN be adjusted within the software to an appropriate level?

Why the hell would you want to turn them down ;)

So you may have to have your house rebuilt every few years from being shaken apart, it's worth it :D

Yeah, you can turn it down more with your Audigy. (Lower bass setting to 0%) and lower your sub output on the Z560 control pod to 0.

(Gaming at night? I would recommend getting a fairly good pair of headphones).

I emailed logitech pertaining to the bass quesiton in my original post. The email response stated that there is a seperate gain on the back of the sub in addition to the sub volume on the control pod (or whatever they call it).
I thought I looked over the sub in the store pretty good. Hmmmmm. CAn Anybody out there confirm this?

I don't see any extra sub control on the sub. Just the speaker jacks, power cord, control pod cable, and a on/off switch.
