Can I get a virus on my main pc while running a virtual pc? If so what can I do to avoid that? Any settings to help avoid it?
Also is there anyway to make my virtual pc faster? Seems kinda laggy. Im running a 2600k at 4.3ghz so that can't be it. I also alotted the maximum 3.72gb of ram it would let me.

I think there's proof of concept stuff that has viruses jumping to the host, but nothing in the wild AFAIK. How much ram do you have total?

That's cool to know about the virus'. I have 16GB total ram. It'll only let me put 3.72 towards the virtual PC.

Dunno about the performance. It should be pretty decent on your setup. Not as good as a native install, but acceptable enough. You could try different virtualization packages. I don't think MS VirtualPC is supported anymore. You could try VirtualBox, and VMware also.

Try virtualbox. It's free and a lot of nice features. VMware Workstation is the best app for VM's on the desktop, but it's not free. VMware Player is free, and I run it alongside virtualbox, seems a bit more stable too, but virtualbox has more features, similar to VMware Workstation.
