Hi all, I just got my new parts in, but the 2 that specifically have to do with this topic are:

Mobo
and
RAM

I have never messed with timings before, but what do I want to set those to and generally how would I do that?

Also, the mobo manual says that (if I'm reading it right) I want to put the 2 sticks of RAM into the first and third slots... Is that right?

Like:
DIMM slots
....... | | .| |
....... | | .| |
.......1 2 .3 4
.......X... X

Where those 2 X's are, the 1 & 3. I always thought you'd put it into the 1 & 2.

Diagram lost me. But pretty much, when you mount the mobo, the top slot is #1, and going down is 2, 3, and 4. As for your mobo, if it says put it in slot 1 and 3 for dual channel, do so.

For changing bios settings, there should be a dram option allowing you to control things such as the voltage (vdimm), the cas latency of the ram, and etc. Use the program CPU-Z and see if your ram are running at the rated timings of 2-3-2-5. If they are, don't bother screwing with them. If they aren't going in there and set it yourself.

TCL (?)or CAS : 2
TRCD : 3
TRP : 2
TRAS : 5

Thanks. Hmm, so I guess I've had my RAM wrong in my other PC for the last 4 years ;_;
