Couple Questions after first PC build.

Everything went smooth as butter. Just had a few questions since I?m a newbie.

1. I have all my fans hooked up together on one Molex line; at the end I have my SATA II HDD. Is this a bad idea, should I run it on its own power line?

2. Could someone recommend program that I could use to "torture" my system and find any errors, not that I have had any so far.

3. I?m really new to XP since I've been using windows 98SE for some time now. I bought Windows XP PRO, but when the computer boots up the splash screen shows Windows XP. Not that it?s an issue cause under system info it shows Windows XP PRO SP2.

thanks

Here's some programs to look for:

Prime 95 (use Torture Test > small FFTs to stress the CPU)
Memtest86
SuperPI
All the 3DMarks
S&M is good for extreme stresstesting.

But best of all, play some games 🙂

1. Depends on how many and what size fan. Should be fine though.
2. Prime95 or BF2. If it plays BF2 fine, then your system is solid.
3. That's normal.

1) This is fine. The fans take minimal power and the power line is designed for more load than you have put on it.
2) already answered
3) This is not an issue since I assume this is the same startup screen for all the XP variants; XP Pro, Home, Media Ed.

Cool, thanks. I downloaded 3Dmark, PC mark, SuperPI. I will try the other ones at a later time. It plays Unreal Tournament 2004 pretty well 1280 x 1024 all setting maxed out 90ish-150FPS. I wanted to make sure everything was working before I started installing all my programs and putting it online.
