1. I got a gigabyte K8NS pro and it has the si controller and the nvidia one for IDE/SATA, Im assuming the nvidia would be faster and better than the si one but wasnt sure, dont remember reading any reviews comparing the 2.

2. It has an atx 12 input on the board and the motherboard says it will not post w/o the 12 v connector in but I was planning on using my antec case with 400w power supply but it doesnt have the 12v connector (its very old one of the orig sx830).... But the system runs fine off just atx, should i consider getting a atx12 compliant ps or will this antec work fine for me? IE is there any reason to get teh atx12 if it works fine now?

i highly suggest you get the compliant PSU for your system

your system may run fine but if will probly crack up during high load and who knows what damage you are doing to the board/cpu by using a underpowered and un-recommended PSU

I am using a K8NNXP motherboard and there was an extra piece of hardware to connect for the ATX 12V. It should have been in your motherboard box. I had to really read the instructions closely to fingur out what it was for (the GigaByte instructions don't seem to be clear all the time and the english can be hard to decipher).
