Couple of strange problems in Windows 8

I have some strange issues that I can't find solutions for. Or, rather, every solution I've tried has not fixed these:

1. When I click on my ethernet adapter and go to properties, I get a dialog box saying "An unexpected error has occured." I have a fully working connection.

2. When I go to my action center and click the change UAC options link, nothing happens. Normally I'd get the UAC slider. Nope. Just looks like nothing happened.

3. Similarly, on some applications, when I go to the properties and try to change all compatibility settings for all users, nothing happens. Just like the UAC settings not showing up. I think this might be related to 2.

4. In the uninstall applications part in the control panel, the text is missing next to "Organize." This includes uninstall, repair, change...whatever it might be for each application. I can still click on a box for these options, but the text is gone.

This is a fairly recent install of Windows 8. I had the same issue listed in numbers 1 and 4 a while back, and I had to to a clean install of Windows 8 to fix it. I have no idea why, when, or how it came back.

Last time I did the clean install, I checked the "unexpected error" networking issue and the missing text from problem 4 after installing my typical applications, running updates, and setting up my computer as needed. If I have to reinstall (probably will this weekend if I can't solve by then), I'll be more thorough about this next time, but I did notice this issue at those points. I've also tried the sfc /scannow, and it says everything is good.

Thoughts? Here's my hardware:

i5 2500K (4.5GHz at 1.35V)
8GB RAM (1333MHz, 1.5V)
Biostar TZ77XE3 motherboard
Adata SX900 256GB SSD (Main OS and application HDD)
WD 640GB HDD (to store pictures, music, etc. I have folders set up here like I would in My Documents folder, and they're linked to my libraries)
HD7970 with latest 13.2 beta drivers, though literally just about to install my GTX 680
Antec EarthWatts 650W PSU

Well, I don't particularly want to go back to Windows 7.

Is there a chance it's a hardware issue? BIOS? Firmware? Drivers? Really having a hard time figuring this one out.

Hans,

If Denis has the same issues as you, how could it be a hardware issue? Especially considering that his problems have went away with Windows 7.

He said he had similar issues, but that doesn't necessarily mean identical or that they happened from the same causes. There were not many details I could pull from his post. I also know several people running Windows 8 right now, and they have not come across anything remotely like this.

I'm just curious exactly how similar your problems were to mine, because that will help me narrow down potential causes. :)

I had 1 issue similar to your #1. In the tray my network adapter icon had the yellow triangle (limited connectivity) even though I had full access to both my LAN and the internet. A reboot would sometimes fix it, but it still would come up occasionally. I did a reinstall but the issue still popped up even though I had full access. It hasn't come up for a few months, I'm thinking an update fixed the issue. I know it's not much help, but I thought I'd share anyways.

Oh, I forgot about another issue that's popping up now and had happened previously. When I try to uninstall certain (or maybe all?) applications from the control panel, it gives me an error and says it may have already been uninstalled. I am given the option to remove it from the control panel. I have to use alternative uninstallers to get around this.

Part of me wonders if it's the SSD. I don't remember having these issues when I had Windows 8 running on my 640GB HDD.
