I picked up a couple of older 486DX systems at an auction and had a question on the MB. Is the really long slot (like ISA with almost another PCI at the end...with a space between) called the VESA and/or VL-BUS slot? Just curious, I hate to ask stupid questions, but this is even the first AT MB I have even had the opportunity to experiment with. Until now I thought all FDD & HDD controllers were onboard, you mean to tell me that way back 10 years or so ago, you had to have controller cards for this stuff? Why does AT have two 115V connectors on the back, did they used to sell male and female wall plugs??
BTW I put WIN98SE on one of them and it chugs along on a blazing (AMD for you Athlon lovers) 486DX-4 with a whole 16MB RAM...although I haver never seen so much of the hourglass in my life.
