Couple of questions about Corsair XMS2 in 4 x 1GB config

Hello all, I was wondering if someone could help me out with a pending upgrade here. Right now I'm running 2 x 1GB sticks of DDR2 800, 4-4-4-12 @ 2.1v. I've ordered an additional set of these sticks now that the price has come down to $37 after MIR. The ones I have now are Rev 2.1 and they use ProMOS chips. If the kit that arrives from the egg ends up being Rev 1.1-1.4 or 3.1-5.1 and I get Micron or Samsung chips etc., will I run into a compatibility issue?

I know 4 x 1GB configurations are finicky and I just want to try and minimize any possible issues I might run into.

I've updated my bios to the latest official version, and I plan on running looser timings (5-5-5-12/18) as I haven't heard of many success stories using 4-4-4 with 4GB (And I realize the real-world difference is, for the most part, non-existent).

I'll be running my processor at 333x9 and staying with 400 on the memory, is there anything else that I should be aware of, or anything that I should do, to make the upgrade seamless?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Should be fine; just make sure the pairs stay pairs in their respective channels.

You may not be able to OC the RAM quite as far, & don't be surprised if you need to apply an extra notch in NB voltage or run lower RAM speeds or looser timings or more vdimm, but you should be fine.

I ran 4x1 GB Corsair XMS2-675 stuff up to DDR2-750ish 4-4-4 just fine, so i'm sure your 800 stuff will be happy.

Up the MCH voltage up one notch to 1.29v and start with 5-5-5-15. If you can do better timings then great, but don't expect it.

The main problem with mixing memory is that they may need different voltages and there is no way to specify individual voltages for the chips.

Thanks for the advice guys, I upped the NB voltage a notch so I can monitor the temps and see if I need to add additional cooling. These sticks I have now are memtest/prime/pi stable at 1.8v @ 800 so I'm hoping I won't need any more than the 2.1v they are set to now. As far as I can tell the various chips Corsair is using in these kits are all rated for 1.9-2.1v.

I'll probably stick with 5-5-5, I'm no enthusiast overclocker or anything, a little more bang for my buck is all I want.
