Really makes me feel old, as I played computer games for years before Doom came out. I distincting remember Doom as one of those newfangled games that I didn't really care for (fps).

<---still misses the golden age of text adventures, when imagination and story telling were paramount.

I remember our computer teacher giving us a hands on lab where we have to network computers together and run doom.

Doom is the daddy of the modern FPS, for better or worse. The game was damn impressive when it first came out. Especially the first time you got the BFG9000 and became god.

I had it for Mac back in the day. Was glad to find an OS X x86 emulator designed specifically to run it. It really is funny how much controversy the game generated as it is pretty tame.

My first computer was a Power Mac 6100 running Mac OS9 with a 60mhz PowerPC and 16MB of RAM. I could only play Doom in low res, and I only had the shareware version, but my god did I play the shit out of it. Upgrading a couple years later to Windows 98 and a 400mhz Celeron blew me away.

Ah I still remember first discovering Doom. A friend down the street got the shareware disk. I remember going over his house to play, which I was more than happy to do since his older sister was super hot.
