1. When I insert a blank CDR disc, it always keeps asking me if I want to take no action or open up a folder. I keep checking the box to always take no action but that prompt keeps coming back up every time.

2. IE Explorer defaults to 'smaller' text size instead of medium which is the only size I can stand. I'm repeatedly having to resize the text.

Would something in X Teq X Systems fix this stuff and if so where?
I've set XP up before on other people's computers and never had trouble like this...like my system keeps forgetting settings.

Installing real player makes mine do #1. uninstall realplayer and it remembers the action to take. Don't know about #2.

I don't have RealPlayer installed though.

Couple other things, similar: it keeps asking me if I want to save my password on web pages, doesn't remember them. And my printer keeps getting kicked offline - sometimes I have to go into the printers folder, right-click and make it available online, and reboot it (the printer), then it works.

I followed some of the tips at Black Viper for clearing up some services I didn't need. I wonder if one of them might be needed more than I thought...would would control things like this?

Only other thing is I've run RegCleaner a couple of times, but I never had any problem with that program doing something like this in the past.

Hold down the shift key when you insert the disc. Or you can just disable auto-play on that drive.

Open a blank IE window, set the text size to what you want, then close it. Now it should remember your setting. Remember though, these are just default settings so if a page is requesting a specific text size then it'll over-rule your setting.

Man I wish I could find a way to fix #2 for good. Mind defalts to medium but text is way too small on mine. I use the larger setting. Anyhow sometimes it will go days without switching back to medium. Sometimes it will switch back several times a day. I wish I could find the registry setting that would take care of this for good.
