Couple 360 Questions

Is it normal for a 500mb demo to take a hour to download on 5mb cable? Or is something not setup right? Also is it normal for the DVD drive to sound like a blow dryer when a game is running?

Also the cooling fans have a noticeable hum to them? Is all this normal?

The download speeds vary, but the rest is normal, unfortunately.

Oh yeah...the DVD drive is really loud. From what I heard, in the most recent editions, they are even louder.

I've heard the opposite 😕. My replacement 360 that I got back from warranty work a month ago is much quieter than the one I sent in.

Yeah, um... my DVD drive is quieter now that I had it repaired than my launch console so I dont know where Gibson is getting his info from.

Ditto. My launch console is loud. The second 360 I bought was quieter. The 360 I got to replace my second 360 is even quieter still.

My 360 was a replacment from a RROD one I bought from here, it RROD on me several months ago and I sent it in. The date on my second (really the third) is even older but the disc is MUCH quieter than the first (second). The only issue I have is if I put a game on pause for a long time, particularly GH2, and I try to continue, I get a bad disc read. Dunno if its about to bellyup again because I do have it standing vertically. I do plan to lay it horizontally next week when the EX moves out and I can hook it up to my main TV and incorporate it into my main AV system. I have heard on many sites that vertical is a no-no for 360. May get a Falcon in a few months and give this one to my son. I need more HD space and 20gbs just doesnt cut it. I can normally download a 1gb+ demo in about 10 mins. I have 20mb cable but NEVER get that speed. Best I have seen it do is 15 and thats in the middle of a workday so there is less saturation on the cable system.
