I cant post in steam forums for some reason (registered and everything, but it wont let me create a new topic). I've searched in there a lot and it seems several people are having this issue, but I cant find a solution. I've got a Soundblaster Live Platinum 5.1 that works flawlessly in Doom 3 (the first game that it really makes a difference when you've got 5.1) however, in CS:S, 5.1 produces NO sound at all. I have to change over to 2 speakers to play, and even then it doesnt sound that hot. Drivers are latest, everything is up to date, plugged in and such.

Help me fix it!

Steam forum registration has a timeout built into it. You have to wait until a Valve admin activates your account, usually a few hours to half a day.

I only have 2.1 sound on an Audigy2 Plat. and my sound works great. I've heard others mention 5.1 though so maybe try searching the Steam forums a bit.

I had a similar problem with my audigy 2 and 5.1 speakers ... I didnt install the drivers using creatives .exe, I just used .inf files. Sound worked well in everything else, but not CS:S. So all I did was run creatives .exe and along with all that bloatware, I got it working

I did the exact same thing and it's working awesomely now. Thanks. Before I didnt bother installing any of the AudioHQ stuff, and I guess for some reason, they need that in there.
