I think it's a problem with the game and not XP. I used to have this problem when I played it in Win2k.

Same problem...loose sound when I task switch out.

I'm on a KT133A board with a Diamond MX300 soundcard...what about you guys?

BTW, this is on XP, but I never ran it on any other O/S on this system.

Once back in the game press ESC to drop back to the very first main menu then press "Resume Game" and the sound will be back.

zoltarc that solution works, but obviously you have to exit the game you were playing to do that :-(

and i also freeze up sometimes when im exiting counterstrike

cs is very buggy they need a new patch

As long as you used a third party game launcher (GameSpy) pressing ESC will drop you back to the VERY first game menu, then press "Rresume Game" and the game you where playing and the sound will return.

This solution only works if the game was started from a third party launcher as you need to be returned to the first main menu not the multiplayer menu.
