I posted earlier but got very little response...anyways..I have an MSI K7T PRO2-A w/tbird 850mhz(not o/c), Xentor 32(TNT2Ultra)vidcard, and sblive value....running win98SE with all the updates. I'm currently using VIA 4.29final drivers...and i tried several different nvidia drivers...and counterstrike STILL freezes..where the video stops and the sound is looped. I don't have any hardware conflicts such as IRQ problems or anything of that sort.....I loaded the optimized default values in my bios(v2.4) and disabled onboard sound.....I cannot seem to solve this problem...i loaded win98se because the game froze under win2k ......should I try an older version of the via drivers??? ....sometimes the game freezes within 5min...sometimes I can play for like 30 min. then it'll freeze...i just don't get it....i disabled agp4x in the bios ....but installed the agp drivers from via in 'turbo' mode...if that helps any......any help would be appreciated...

Try uninstalling via drivers, then reinstall in normal mode. My computer would lock up every once in awhile when I installed in turbo mode. Was fine when I switched to the normal mode.

Do you have EAX enabled and A3d? Might have a sound problem. I had lock-ups in GLquake with my Asus6800 DDR, and had to run in D3D mode. Maybe try that.

I only installed the drivers ...didn't install liveware 3.0 ......maybe that might solve the problem......thanks for the replies...

This may sound stupid ,but try lowering the refresh rate,it's probably on optimal right??Also I would do like smk said and reinstall the agp drivers in normal mode.
