?? I dont get it.

The gameplay is horrible, i died in 2 shots from a machine gun at long range yet i was hiding and an enemy ran by me and i capped him with several pistol rounds. He turns around and I died in 1 shot from a pistol or some gun. sure.. that makes sense.

each round is super quick like a matter of seconds.--no involved gameplay

everyone is using those gay audio chat--how lame

somehow there is something called a "buy" menu yet i never go to a store or counter to buy anything

i keep getting shot by phantoms or ghosts because I'll be out in the open or for that matter, behind a box and die and there is no one around me


Just a few points about this game. I really dont see the hype around it.

n00b keep walkin around until you find the store to buy your gear...its usually at the opposing team's spawn point..

I'm definitely a newbie, but the game is so un user friendly and hard to get a handle on. I think I'll stick to halo which has good gameplay, nice weapons, great graphics, and is easy to pick up and learn.

I dont understand how the enemy is getting headshots on me when I am running, zig zagging, etc. I die before I realize they are near me because the gameplay is so fast.

I must be getting old.

I'm going to try it sometime when I'm not so tired, but it just doesnt seem fun.


How can someone get a headshot on you when you are running erratically and they fire 1 or 2 times and you die. I cant even hit the bastiches.. . I am not by any means a good 1st person shooter, but I can generally holw my own in most games.

You = running in predictable pattern.
Bullets = instant hit.
Head = Watermeloned.

I agree with you that CS is not user-friendly, and I'll tell you why. It's because for someone who knows nothing about the system of buying guns and what works is at an extreme disadvantage. And being a recent beginner myself, I can say that this info isn't readily available. It's trial-and-error.

Also, when you hop online, there is an equal mixture of people who are amazing at the game and those who simply cheat with wallhacks and aimbots that it's discouraging at first. I suggest trying to get into a few smaller games with anyone that you may know, or even some of us here. It will give you time to learn the system. You just have to get used to dieing before you can get used to killing.

It's called a scoped rifle. I know, it can be a hard game to play, even for some of us FPS veterans.

Just make sure whenever playing online multiplayer, it's all about ping times/latencies (less is better), and max frames per second. If your computer lags in the middle of exchanging bullets, you're going to lose always.

I thought you were supposed to go alone and AWP..

But like they said, it's a hard game to get started since you can die quite easy.

Just practice and you will get used to it or use some aim bot hacks

since you're a noob, your only option is to buy the noob cannon (and by this i mean the auto shottie, he obviously cannot handle an awp yet) and pwn some people.

Stick with Halo, CS is a skilled FPS gamer's game.

In the case where that information does not help you, here is some other information. In Halo, you can run around like a retard and live for a few minutes. Infact, if you are playing on an Xbox against other people using an Xbox, you can run around for hours like a retard and never get hit. But CS has to be played like you would fight in real life, to a degree. The object is to never give your opponent a target to shoot at. In CS you are always doing one of the following: moving to cover, behind cover, securing a position, or laying down fire. And in the rare instance where you arn't doing those things, you are most likely dying.

Now, the aim. Yes, someone can hit you from across the map with a pistol and take your head off and they arn't cheating. You may need to watch a cs demo or video or 3 before you realize this is possible. After people play CS for years, they learn how to effectively fire in short controlled bursts which are very accurate and effective. In previous years, the most effective shot was a single tap ak-47 shot to the head. This was brutally efficient and often left your enemies saying wtf. Then you get down to people like my friend, who learned how to fire a scout effectively unscoped and was deadly with the thing from any range, you simply didn't want to be on his screen unless he was blinded.

Then you've got map strategies, if it is your first time playing a map you are pretty much guarenteed to lose simply due to knowledge of the map and how to play it. Where to be, where to rush, where to defend, hot spots where conflicts usually occur, etc. If you don't know these things, it is best to follow and not lead.

Which leads me to my next point, if you are running around alone, you are just begging to die. Hell, if you are even running then you are begging to die, you should be walking.

And what the hell is wrong with voice communication? The only bad thing I can think of is if you sound like a freak, otherwise it is a huge benefit to team play.

It is a hard game to learn and it can be very frustrating at times when you pour a whole magazine into somebody who somehow manages to turn around and kill you with a single shot :Q

Stick with it and you'll improve drsatically as you learn the ropes.

I should really get it back onto my system again.

Where do u guys recommend for getting the updates and files these days - I'm so out of touch now... Not sur eif I even know how to change from max_fps=72 to max_fps=100 these days...

CS is great .. but as everyone is saying, it is NOT user friendly. There are so many experienced players that someone who's new will very easily get beaten up upon... also realize that certain weapons can shoot through certain boxes/doors/walls ... so hiding behind someone doesn't necessarily mean you're safe .. ie and awp shot will pass through a box.

AMD64 2800+ @ 2.4 ghz
Geforce nu OC unlocked
1 gb ram
etc

6 mb dsl

no lag.

you can't have precise aim and quick reaction shots with a joystick. thats why many people enjoy counter-strike over halo. in halo you're almost guaranteed a few kills during a match by nade spamming or auto-aim. counter-strike 1.6 has pretty gay default netcode where the hitboxes lag, but it can be fixed. definately not a noob-friendly game, although the random spray of the guns kinda makes up for that. in the end it makes for better competition.
