Counter Strike: What is so great about it?

Really, what is so great about it? It's 99.9% of the time the same map and game seems to be so the same every time. Same weapons each time, same looks for players (terrorists vs counter-terrorists). I'm pretty good at playing the game, however after playing for about an hour (just to see how it is like), I don't think I'm too anxious to play it again. Maybe it is just me though.. What are your thoughts on this?

oh and to answer your question, cs has the right balance between realism/death

tfc, way too much, i mean taking like 10 rockets 3 grens and still being alive?

dod way too little, it's pretty much 1/2 hit kill

Most people that play it now play it because of their original love for the game-ie. something that is not like Quake.

My english teach plays it, it must be good

all the orginal good players are gone and now CS is just about sheer numbers of people just shooting, no strategy what so ever. i played CS all the way from beta1 to 1.0. it started getting crappy at beta5 once barking dog gave it more plublicty. CS was the best online game in its early days.

I can play CS and have fun for a while, but it eventually gets boring for me. I much more prefer TFC. I just cannot get enough of that game.

I use to play it all the time. It's a great game, but you can only play a game for so long. I don't play it much more.

I really only play CS for one map, Militia. I don't know what it is, but I have an obsession with that map, it's extremely fun. But other than that, I'd say TFC is the MOST ADDICTIVE mod for Half-life. God knows I've been playing TFC forever now, in fact I played the original Team Fortress when it first came out for Quake. I would think I'd be sick of that game and concept by now, but I still play it all the time.

What are you talking about? CS Is great! I started playing at beta 6.3. Unfortunately, I don't play it much anymore... Damn low ping bastards make it tough for dialupers like me. Day Of Defeat is a favorite of mine at the LAN parties. I LOVE the M1..

Bah, Play Action Quake 2, CS managed to steal all their ideas from it and crappify them.

Also, all the l33t people have move to CS so only seriosu players are left playing AQ2

ill tell you:

i played cs for months now, and I haven't played it in about 1 month 1/2 why? because I honetly got tired of it. I used to play every damn day, but it just got a bit old doing the same thing over and over. plus there are wayyyyy too many kid cheaters and hacks so it really takes away the game play, and I also got Diablo 2 so it replaced it.

its a good game, but I dont see myself playing it anytime soon. it just got a bit "old"
