Counter Strike: Source Tips and Guides?

Sid59

i just recently went thorugh the long arduous task of installing CS:S and updating through Steam. Anyhow, i've never played CS and i'm wondering if anyone knows any good quick guides with keyboard shortcuts i should know.

I'd ask a few friends but it's 930AM and they dont really like waking up this early. I always see them pounding the keys when the game starts to buy stuff.

Also, i can't get my tilde to open up the console.

click shots with ak47 is domination. I also like to use machine gun and just bust out bullets nonstop. You would want to aim at their feet so the recoil will pull your shots up and get hs.

not true. HAve you played CS:S?
Yeah, if you have cracked version then you play on cheater only servers.

CS:S is beautiful that you don't see cheaters dowadays. VAC2 is pretty good.

Yup, despite what people think... "hacking" is not the same as "owning your face in"...

So if you cry "OMG HE HAX" then you're really just saying "I suck too much to kill him, I might as well hit the big red "HE HAX" button and try to compensate for getting raped"

hm i'm sure tehre are sites with rundowns of the advantages/disadvantages of each weapon.

this one is easy, install and it just adds more bindnig options in your normal options menu.

shoot for the head/neck, let bullets rise to head with sub machine guns/machine guns. running while gunning = bad aim, so if you can, stop the moment you fire. pistols are weak, so if you can, fire at their head,2 hit death. 1hit for deagle. submachine guns are inaccurate at range, the rifles are better for that. but you can run and spray better with submachine gun at close range. running and gunning with shotty doesn't affect accuracy much, but long range shooting is basically useless.

The key to good shooting is to not spray and pray... focus your crosshairs... pop a couple shots off, let the recoil settle, and then hit it again.

Know the hiding places, know where you can safely reload, know how to flash and how to nade.

People will camp more when they are hurting, so if you know you have some shots on a person, make sure to move cautiously around corners.

Don't one man rush... you might get a few people, but it'll be a long round if you have to sit and watch all the campers waste the round time down.

Follow someone who is doing well and take notes from them. Obviously they are doing something right.

Change your tactics every few rounds... someone will catch on and school you... or you can get the jump on that person if you think they will expect you in a certain place ... so you sweep around and hit all the camp spots guarding that place after going the other path a few rounds.

Contrary to popular belief, an AWP and a Desert Eagle is not the best weapon combination ever. Don't waste your money.

A helment only helps if the other team can aim. If you're short on funds, skip the helmet and just go for Kevlar.

Extra ammo for pistol is a better purchase if you short on funds than a rifle with no ammo. You can find plenty of rifles laying around after only a minute. Take your pick.

Be friends with the MP5. Again, if you're short on cash, this thing is well-rounded beast. A bit weak, but it's better than a pistol.

The best tip ever:

AIM FOR THE HEAD. If you are just starting, you're better off getting in the habit now than trying to build it up later. With most guns, it can take half a dozen shots and 3 more seconds to hit in the chest than torso... you might not have that time.

Most importantly: Have fun. Someone has to lose... if it's you...it's okay... you'll spawn again next round. Don't get upset.

yea long range best u can hope for is 3-4 shot in auto before it just goes random, dont hold that trigger down

but helmet i always buy, its the difference between one and two shot death from smg and pistol. rifle/deagle/sniper u are screwed regardless though

1 - It is, if you're a CT and have good aim
2 - More often than not, there will be good players on the other team. Plus, I've gotten dinked by a hell of a lot of stray bullets.
3 - Yep. Go practice on an aim map with rifles and try shooting individual bullets while strafing. e.g. strafe left, tap right to cancel movement, pause, fire one bullet at head, strafe right, tap left to cancel movement, pause fire one bullet at head, etc.

Once you get better you don't have to lengthen the pause before firing - when you strafe left and then right or vice versa, there's a moment when your character has zero speed and therefore the same accuracy as in standing position. At least, it's that way in 1.6
