For some reason I can't get it to run fullscreen - it keeps saying it can't start the requested display mode, and reverts to "safe mode" (640x480, windowed). Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

This game runs pretty good on my older DDR 266, AGP 4x system. I am displaying 1024x768 and getting almost 70 fps! Cant wait to get HL2. See you online!

I dont really like CS all that much, but it is nice to kill the time while I await for HL2/DoD:S. I have a habit of concentrating on the graphics and dying early in the round though :(

Are there like 6 million people playing yet?

No there are only about 300-400 servers for Source through steam so far. Don't get me wrong those servers are packed though. The game is amazing I don't see why it wouldn't be.

i'm only hesitant because for $50-80, i don't get a physical disc. what happens if you need reformat? can you save the downloaded game and install in another computer?

You just log on with steam & redownload the game. Or you could probably save time by just putting the .gcf files on a cd/dvd and just copy the files over to the folder so nothing to download but just updates then.

Let's say half life 2 comes out in two months and you buy it then. You've just lost 2 months of CS Source action. You certainly don't gain anything by waiting. I suppose you'll get to look at more reviews before purchasing, but I suspect you'll buy the game whatever the reviews say. Unless you really want the original disc, I don't see any reason for waiting. I'd like to have an official disc, but I'll get over it.

Yeah, I like this actually. You can install it via download on as many computers as you want, but you can only play from one at a time. Pretty cool really. I'd still like a disc etc, but I bought the silver pack yesterday.

The main map I was looking forward to, Aztec, turned out to be not so great. They didn't even put reflections on the water, it looks like crap. The other maps however, Chateau, Office, etc are pretty fun.

I'm liking it. There are a lot of subtle improvements compared to the beta, like bullets seem to actually hit something, and much reduced lag.

Now they just need to finally get the game that I laid my money down on over a year ago out.

Bought the Gold package for my 16yr old son. He's a happy camper. I was surprised how well this CS:S runs on a ATi 9500 Pro .... very smooth running and great visuals. Thought I was going to have to get him a 6800NU to play Half-life 2 maybe not after all. ;)

No, when you're a client, you shouldn't need to open any incoming ports.

I sent in a voucher but I requested they ship me the disk : (
lol, I sent in a voucher but I registered on steam as well so I can start playing right away. I hope I still get a disc shipped to me.
