So I got a new rig and I want to blow some time gaming. I had some fun playing the original CS so I thought I'd give the new one a try.

Here's the deal. If I want to play online do I just go to counter-strike.net and buy the CS:Source pack for $19.99 and then I'm set? The wording seems to be confusing on whether I need to have a copy of Half-Life 2 to play CS.

Also I have a GeForce 6600 GT 128mb of ram, will that be able to play CSSource at 1280x1024(my native LCD resolution)?

Thanks for helping a guy who doesn't know crap about games anymore.

not really sure on the do I need HL2 question but I am guessing you don't. If you look around on forums you can buy a steam account for $15-$20 which includes HL2,CS:S,ect. Even though your not allowed to sell the accounts ppl still do on some forums. I bought one not long ago for my bro for $10.

Yeah that 6600GT will run the game just fine at those settings.

Go to steampowered.com and create a steam account you can download CS:S all by its self. If you want you can ussually buy DoD:S and CS:S for $20 in stores. No you don't need to own HL2.
