Just played CS-S for about 30 min, and my 6800GT reached 84C!
It never reached 80C while playing D3. Can it be CS-S graphically more demanding than D3?

Wow, that's strange... I sure hope this is an isolated case, cause I'm about to get a 6800 and hope to play CS:Source and HL2 on high quality. I heard that their new engine should not be as demanding as D3, so I figured if 6800 gets about 30-60 fps on D3 then I shouldn't have any problems with CS:Source.

No. CSS looks like ass next to D3, and marginally better than CS1. Something else must be wrong.

Then again the NV cards are not optimized for the source engine. I mean in the benches they didnt even bother to remove 6xAA for the NV cards!

What happened to controlling AA and AF for all apps regardless of the app settings? I still have my old TI4400 and haven't updated the drivers in ages, but with what I have right now I can control those settings with the drivers and not games.

Same thing happend to me, was playing CSS on my OCed GeForce3 and it overheated. I had had it OCed to 225 / 530 for approx 1 year without it overheating even once. I found it very strange, I wasnt even on High graphics, 1024x768 with medium details and no AA or AF. Very odd :\

I would say this has to do with the beta, rather then the engine itself. It definitely isn't normal.
