I've opened up some cs source servers lately.

24/7 Office 8.6.15.10
24/7 Dust 2 8.6.15.164
24/7 Cal Rotate 8.6.2.176
24/7 Sports 63.209.37.12

The forum site is www.eliteforce.clanservers.com

Also, do you guys have any recommendations for populating servers? We have a 1GB flash drive prize for the dust 2 and office server, but for some reason the dust 2 server seems to be empty a lot.

Thanks

I dont know, we have the same problem. We own 4 servers and only one of them is populated, which is a cs_crackhouse server. People get addicted to that map like real crack lol. Others are gg, dust 2 24/7, and awp but they are empty.

Make sure they're fast and have you and you're friends play in them often. Just don't add bots, nothing makes me madder than connecting to a server and finding out it's filled with bots. (Did that fix that in the last update?)

Also you might want to consider consolidating all those forums a bit. Report a rule breaker(terrible name btw) and Banned could be two forums for all servers as long as people specify what server they were.

Dust 2 is old, people played it to death and got sick of it. I know there are still some die hard Dust 2 fans out there, but 99% of them probably already have a favorite D2 server. Office is fun, I've never seen sports. When I get a decent connection I would love to play on your servers, I kinda use to jump around and I never knew what to expect.

I don't know. I think you'd be better off with one server and map rotation. Have admins on it and see if you can get it well populated with regulars and then think about expanding.

Also, forgot to say all this. All the servers except i believe the sports arena server are located in california. The servers are 66 tic and if you check the forum there is now a militia server.

Dust 2 and Office are usually full, sports areana has like 6 people usually (good for the sports games). So thanks for checking them out.

Different people want different things out of a server, so you need to cater to a specific crowd, and make sure you know exactly which crowd you're aiming for.

Some people strictly like to play "mess around" maps, like iceworld, etc, so you may want to have a server for that.
Some people only like to play Dust2, but like mentioned above, there are already about 5 million dust2 servers, so I would probably just avoid it.

You mentioned that you have a CAL rotation server. If you're going to have a server running with a map rotation like that, you should probably have the CAL.cfg running (modified of course, shorter freezetime, etc)--make sure to keep a few things true to CAL. Such as: Bomb timer, round timer, round win limit, FF=ON, etc. Make sure that the title of this server actually advertises the server rules--I find that this type of server is the hardest to find, but if you title it right, it will keep newbies out and be exactly what some people are looking for.

The title of your servers is the most important thing. Make sure it is descriptive enough so that people know exactly what it is or nobody will ever join... For instance, if someone wants to only play dust2, they aren't going to join a server called "OWNAGE CS!!!", but they will join a server called "OWNAGE CS:S - Dust2 24/7". Similarely, you should name the CAL server something like, "Ownage CS:S - CAL Maps - FF=ON"

Oh and stats. Am I wrong in thinking people like stats? My main server has hlstatsx and it's nice to see the damage you did and to have some kind of perpetual rankings for the regs to track. We also have someone who exclusivley plays with the shotgun so it's cool for those guys to get some recognition on the weapon rankings page.

How many players? My primary server has 32 and there's usually a wait to get in until 2:00 AM.

iceworld is a mess around map?awwwh damn! I like it because it's fast, Dust 2 can be fuuuun, but when you die first waiting for the next round can be grueling. Ice World is great on a ranked sever, well assuming you don't always die. You can rack up a thousand kills in no time.

Well the dust2 and office servers are 32 man and are filling up fine usually. The main ones are the cal and militia one. We try to have the titles descriptive enough.

I will try and get hlstats installed soon.

I just tried the server. It's pretty smooth. I'm on the east so the ping is higher than I'd prefer(~100). Giving everyone 16k is nice but I'm not sure about 16k with unrestricted awps. Maybe you can restrict them to like 3 per team or do away with them altogether. Another server I play on has a banking system. You could look into that.

What is high def or summit servers? The clan is just a for everyone who wants to be included, not used to bully players.

Don't do that. Anothing drives me crazier than restrictions. If you do anything set the starting money to like 1500 or something.

Stats are okay for the most part. Don't use that mod that shows you the damage you do right after the shot on the CAL rotation server (the one that appears in the middle of the screen).

Na, the ones on my server show you a little info after you die. Attackers, Killed, Killed By, and Wounded and how much damage and how many shots for each. I've seen some servers that carry it to an extreme and list the location of each hit on each player, but that's a little excessive.

For me, knowing that info helps me learn a little more from each round and keep getting better.

I still wouldn't put it on the CAL server, just because most of the people who will play there probably want CAL rules, etc. Other than that, it's fine.

Right. It's purely a training type of thing. To have it on a league server would be like making everybody turn over their hands after a round of poker.

Honestly, I think the biggest deal for a successful server is active admins and low pings. That will bring the players.
