Counter-Strike Help!

When I join a server in Half-Life Counter-Strike, and try to escape out of it, my system locks up. Normally it would take me to a screen that says "Could Not Complete Connection" but it simply freezes. This also happens where there is a ADMIN-BOT that has a few reserved spots. Please give me any ideas as to what could be causing this. I have updated my drivers for my video card and direct X. I dont know what else to try. I am using the "default" driver because the mini gl driver does not work with my Voodoo 3 2000 PCI. Wicked GL does not work also. Please help, and thanks in advance.

Don't look a gift horse in the mouth. If you're not getting the (free) help you want, go somewhere else or just ^^BUMP.

Myself, I am wondering what is up with this:

<< I am using the "default" driver because the mini gl driver does not work with my Voodoo 3 2000 PCI. Wicked GL does not work also. >>

This is a definite problem. Fix this, and I bet your other problem will be fixed. If you're stuck in driver/directx hell, consider a reformat. Starting out with a clean slate makes all the difference. How long has it been since your last format?

Also, if you are getting stuck at the Won server, that could just be on Won's end. It sometimes locks my computer up when I try to connect, and I know at the counter-strike.net forum many others have complained of the same thing.

the best thing i can recommend is to get a better video card. playing CS in software mode is suck, and could be part of your problem.

on the other hand, a friend of mine runs win2k CS with his voodoo3 in direct3d so maybe you just need to update to DX7.0a if you haven't already. *shrugs*
