Counter Strike: Global offensive...how is it?

Just wondering how the game is and if people like it more than 1.6 and source. Do you think it has the potential to be bigger than the two?

edit: If anyone has a spare key to give away I would love one(but I don't expect it as they are limited)

Looking at the recent videos of the CSGO Beta on Youtube, it looks just like CS, just with updated maps. Graphics seem alright, but without ADS, it seems dated. I can't see this being more popular than it was in its heyday. You could play CSS and get the same experience.

I know originally they had dumbed down the aiming (weapon recoil, etc), and to me, that kills the game. Learning how to properly aim the gun while moving and the compensation you needed for a continuous burst was what made CS and CSS the games that they were.

Lol, that statement alone will piss off a lot of CS blowhards.

I agree though. I've played CS in the past, and liked it, but nowadays I'd just rather play BF3 or COD for my FPS fix.

I'm sure most of the communities I'm a part of will give GO a shot, so I will as well...but I doubt I'll be able to get into it like I can with 1.6. Maybe when 1.6 finally gives its last breath I can move on to other games 😀

CS has had its day, its just hard to really play those games now with BF3 out and vehicles and just the grandiosity of it all.

The problem with 1.6 now is that there's so many freaking hackers. Even in its prime there were too many hackers. Not talking about the top top tier guys, but if you played in like Cal-IM/M, there was so much shadiness going on there.

I can't pub CS anymore, but if you give me a hack free 5v5 organized match, I would take that over BF3 any day. CS is a different game. Recoil/damage/hitboxes is completely different. I like them both, but I am still excited for this. Maybe it's just nostalgia, but I haven't played any competitive FPS since BF2 and it wasn't near as fun for me.

Problem is COD has had Search and Destroy for the last couple of games. No need for a new CS really, if they are not going to evolve it.

Do people actually play 5v5 Search and Destroy on COD? (I have no idea)

CS brings other things to the table that you're leaving out e.g. money management.

Unfortunately most of the pubs give way too much money to everyone so no one ever has to do any eco rounds. Definitely important for competitive games though.

Pub games also have hostie maps but I think they removed that mode in cs:go.

Yea I am just speaking to 5v5 de matches.

I understand it's not for everyone.

SnD seems popular enough...probably the second most uploaded gametype on Youtube for COD. Maybe third...thinking TDM, Dom/SnD, but I dont watch that much COD stuff. I just see it in the sub box. Yeah, I guess I did forget about money management, but I used to just use a pistol and take someone elses gun. Maybe splurge on an AK or AWP if I was feeling frisky and for some reason I couldnt pick one up.

But now I remember the other modes, like hostage rescue, and my fav, VIP! But those modes fell out of favor. And COD didnt copy those, so they are probably not that popular. I still think it needs to evolve in some way, otherwise theres no point besides trying to do a money grab. Seems like Valve already missed the boat on this one.

I think you're missing the goal of this game. This is for organized competitive gaming, not pubmasters. Save rounds/buy rounds, rush long A etc. This isn't for roll your own, I'm gonna meander over here and wait for a corpse's gun every round and maybe buy a weap if I'm feeling frisky. Nothing wrong with that in pub CS, but that is not the goal of this game.

Sorry if I'm coming off as a disgruntled over-enthused fanboy. I can't say how great/poor the game will be, I am just trying to clarify and I don't mean to be as adamant as I may sound.

hahaha no worries man. But ya know, if this is just for competitive play then thats a very small market. CS was the only game I played for years, and it was all pub. lol, and I didnt camp for guns, I killed people and took their sheit! I had 3 accounts at the same time that were top 50 on CLQ. This feels a little too much..."been there, done that".

Some footage

Not sure this is any different than CSS, other than they are screwing with weapons and adopted a console UI.

To add to the OP. The recoil patterns fro guns are different and the hit box for the head is much smaller.

I'm just excited for the skill based match making system they will have in place. Should help CS casuals like myself.

I was a huge CS:S fan, but there is something about BF3 and aiming down open sights that makes it so much more enjoyable for me.
