Counter Strike crashes in win 2k

WEll when i play cs on win 2k it tends to crash for sum unknown reson... when it crashes a loud noise that recently happened like gun fire or reloading sound... etc... repeats and the screen freezes ( i dunt see the blue scree but the screen is just frozen) and i can ctr+alt+del out of it... Iam using detnarot 3 6.31 win2k drivers with liveware 3.0...
 
I had the exact same problem when I was overclocking my system...I noticed that If I got my SB Live on a different IRQ that it wouldnt do it anymore...check the IRQ's and see if it is sharing it with something...mine was my network card..
 
I have been having the exact same problem recently. Did you mean to say you CAN'T cntl-alt-del out of it? When this happens to me, the only thing I can do is a hard reset. I primarily see this problem with Rogue Spear, but have seen it a few times with CS and UT as well. I'm not sharing any IRQs, either. I have forced my SB Live! X-Gamer to use IRQ5 and it is the only device on that IRQ. I might try moving it to a different slot just to see what happens. The problem is driving me nuts, though. I see it in both Win2k and Win98se on this box. Due to the sound looping, I think this is somehow soundcard related - just not exactly sure what yet.

The only similarities between our systems that I can see is the soundcard (I'm also using liveware 3). I'm running Detonator2 5.32 drivers with my TNT2U.
 
Oh darn now i just checked all my IRQ's and my geforce 2 and sblive! value r sharing IRQs, thanks for tellin me guys
 
UM... also my network card and geforce2 and sb live value r sharing IRQs.... how do i change em?
 
UM everything is on IRQ 9, and when i boot back to win me it goes back to its normal IRQ's. how would i change em?
