Im considering renting a public server at $40 a month. Maybe putting the WC3FT mod on it. Would any of you either...
A.) Play on it, and tell friends about it..
B.) Pay $5 a month for limited admin rights? (votekick, slay, kick, changemap, startmoney, ect...

Im looking at some servers in seattle...not just a home based server.
 
dont play 1.6, but here to share some information...

the paying for admin thing never works well - it only makes people hate your server when a couple of the renting admins get a little power happy
 
only possible way for the admin rights is to monitor the admins and have a report admin abuse thing....btw, even though there are more people playing cs1.6.....at AT, i think there are MORE people playing source since most people here have pretty good systems



nevertheless, if you don't have/like source, 1.6 is still a very good game and i would play it occasionally on your server
 
Last year there was a statistical data on steam boards showing that 70K people played cs1.6, and only 15k people cs:s.
And that's damn right, I can see why.
 
I don't see the problem people have with source.... I like them both but it seems to me the people who don't like source are the ones who hate anything new.

they hate source because they hear rumors that it's buggy from people who are too stupid to fix something (that is client based) and that they have a too crappy computer to run the game. if you go to the steam forum board....you'll see a bunch of immature people posting crap
 
Dump the WC3T mod, make the pay for admin limited(kick, limited ban), and have low ping. Have that and u'll have 6 other people playing.
 
Sorry, no , I wouldn't play on your server.

I run my own home based server. Been doing so for going on 7 years now.

Doesn't cost me anything extra and I give free, full admin only to a handful of people who have played there for a long time and have good character. It's free for them, they help manage things and everyone has fun.

My server is almost always full.
 
Ill play on any server that has following

1: good ping
2: good mix of maps (I am sick of dust only servers)
3: good judgement/use of admin .

I'll play if
1. good ping
2. maps that last longer than 30 min . its a pain to switch map all the time.
