I usually watch this show three nights a week and generally enjoy it, but have you noticed that Keith NEVER has people on that disagree with his viewpoint...EVER!? Every guest that he has apes his thoughts or he at least leads them into spitting out what he wants them to say.

At least with the other talking heads on MSNBC (and cable news in general), they have guests that disagree with them in order to add a bit of depth.

Just an observation 🙂
 
I do, religiously.

I don't think the point of the show is to be the typical ****** argue show that run rampant on MSNBC, CNN, or FOX. Just my observation.

That's true, but there is absolutely NO dissent, ever. It's like he lives in a protective bubble 😀
 
Dissent would imply something other than news. It would then be entertainment. Although he does routinely do oddball stories and some celeb. stories (much to his dismay), his show isn't a typical "have guest v guest confrontation" show...it's actually news.

EDIT: BTW, what are you 13? What's with all the emoticons.

Two emoticons? Whatever.

Anyway, having a show without a dissenting point covering the topics that he does allows him to slant the news in whatever direction he wants to take it to. That's absolutely fine, it's his show. But his political leanings are clearly against the current administration (which just so happens to be my viewpoint on a lot of things which is why I like his show), but it would be nice to see him stand up for his point of view and defend it instead of just letting his guests just regurgiate everything that he has already said.

It's like him criticizing Bush for surrounding himself with yes men, then doing the same thing on his show.

And BTW, I do love his Odd Ball segments and "Worst Person(s) in the Worrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrld"

2) I agree about his show. I watch his show exclusively because it is in this unique news format.

3) You're comparing apples to oranges here. Keith is a pundit/journalist whereas Bush is the leader of the free world.
 
Perhaps he can't find any Bush supporters who can come up with any arguments other than the same five talking points over and over?

But it's all about checks and balances. No one is above a good ass kicking. Everyone needs a swift kick in the pants every once in a while to keep themselves grounded. Keith often gets a big head about a lot of issues, especially his criticism of Bill-O (who often does need to be taken to task) and Rumsfeld with his staring into the screen holier-than thou monologues at the end of some of his shows. And he can get away with it plain and simple b/c no one is going to challenge him...EVER.

I watch it. Olbermann is one of my favorite news show because he mixes humor in with the news. Personally, I liked it before when it was less biased. In an attempt to be the anti-O'Reiley show, they have gained in ratings but they made the show worse. Thus, I watch it a lot less than I used to.

Not quite, he is slowly gaining. In the last year it went from 2nd worst to 3rd worst. But, it is by far the highest rated MSNBC news show. It just happens that no one watches MSNBC (the worst and 2nd worst news shows are MSNBC).

I only really watch Olberman b/c I tend to watch "hard new" all day long, and it's refreshing to see Olberman throw some humor into the mix at 8:00PM.

As for the ratings, do you have a link to the latest ratings for the cable news networks?

I like his show. It's entertaining. I wouldn't expect him to have opposing viewpoints on the show, because it's not a debate show. MSNBC has their version of Bill O'Reilly - Joe Scarborough (is he still one?). Not sure if they have an equivalent to Hannity & Liberal to be Determined/Crossfire.

Glenn Beck really sucks. He even made my life worse. I've been trying to convince my GF to watch cable news with me (she doesn't like TV, but she likes news). So, last week she was over at my place and turned the TV on while I was in another room. Glenn Beck was on the TV. Now she refuses even more to watch cable news because she said Glenn Beck was so awful.

I would say the lack of dissent is not necessarily a bad thing. When you look at shows like the O'Reilly Factor and Hannity and Colmes, is there real actual dissent that they have on their shows? Or do they just get the most retarded dissenters possible to make that position look foolish? I've seen the latter happen quite a bit on those shows. I'd rather have a show with no "dissent" than one with retards being the dissenters and making that view look like only a dumbarse would agree with it. The best would be a show with real opposing viewpoints but you can't expect a pundit to allow the possibility of him getting his ass kicked in an argument.
 
I find him pretty annoying. But, hey, the spectrum of my enjoyment of cable news extends from pretty annoying to utter disgust, so pretty annoying is almost a compliment from me.
 
If you actually want a political show that has content, rather than stupid entertainment (hey, that's what the daily show is for, who needs cable news?), you should check out bloggingheads.tv. It has (usually) civil disagreement and a depth that doesn't make it to normal tv.
