Yay, I'm so excited, it looks like the Inquirer was right for once. Conroe is being announced today, at midnight! Thoughts on this, anybody? I'm finally going to be able to build 😀

LINK! 😀

^_^ New CPU's dont come around as often as they should .... AMD and Intel should take look at Nvidia and ATI on how things get done!

These CPU peeps are all a bunch of homer Simpson?s eating donuts at the CPU factories.

R.I.P Netburst ... you kept my feet worm in the office 🙂 bless u

But i came back to the speed of AMD when i got home. I'm waiting for Core 3 befor i upgrade again lets hope the thing takes less then 4 years this time. 😉

yup, looks like the CPU industry is going to be very interesting from now on.

New CPU architectures every 2-3 years? Yes please! 😀

What the hell happened - I read all these threads that talked about the 14th as the release date and even Wikipedia represented that, now its back to the 27th?

Not many motherboards either 🙂

Think I'll be waiting for a month or so, when the best chip/mobo combination will be decided. will be nice to see lots of reviews across the major sites though.

So, am I to understand that the launch of Core 2 Duo is now the 27th or the 14th?

I don't much care either way - I'd just like to know when AMD is going to cut prices...

Basically whats going to happen is reviews will be posted, some e-tailers WILL sell them and thats about it. For wide (meaning every e-tailer) that will be the 27th. So in other words, price gaugers will be in full force between now and the 27th. Not to say it wont continue a short space but more people selling means more competition 🙂 I bet after midnight we will start seeing them for sale.

Now lets see if there are any decent mobos released as well....I still need a mobo....got everything else ready to go...chip is preordered and have not recieved ofcourse...

got (2) 265's sitting right here as well..going in my Asus K8N-DL

looks like right now the fx-62 is $1060, and the approximate intel equivelant, the e6700 is msrp of $530. so amd should have a 50% price cut...and then their most expensive proc is $530.

once amd cuts prices, it'd be interesting to see what the same money an e6600 can get from amd. im looking at the e6600 b/c a price of $316 isnt too bad, the next step down is a 2.13 and this is a 2.4, and you get the 4mb cache. though i havent seen any benchmarks, if the core and athlon x2 architectures scale nearly linearly, then an e6600 should be about an x2 at 2.3, so the 4600+ at 2.4 should be the closest part, which currently is about $550, could drop to $275, lower than the e6600....wait and see i guess

You lost me when you implied that they would reduce the price of the FX to something reasonable.

Wow, that's some serious price inflation on Newegg's part; not only are you paying about $360 more for the CPU, you don't even know when it'll come to your door since its OOS
