Count how many white shirts catch the ball

I was introduced to this experiment this week. Hopefully not a repost (a hitless search of archives). You do want to do the experiment before you go search around the website and discussion thread below.

WTH, it wasn't hard to count and observe at all.

I counted 14 times. While watching the video, I saw what I thought was another person wearing black enter and exit the video. I thought he was trying to screw with the counting. Didn't realize it was a gorilla. Not sure what the experiment proves.

Proves we missed the gorilla acting silly.

Yay... 14 passes and a gorilla.. and if you were counting 16 passes for the other side too. Of course there is a wierd bit of corruption at one instance of the video. Not really all that hard. then again, magicians don't fool me much since I was a prop guy for a few years when I was teenager. Magic is so simple and silly and easy to follow. Now, can I do it? some but many card tricks that require some awsome sleight of hand abilities I probably will never be able to do. Doesn't mean I can't watch what is happening and how it is being done.

what the hell, I was counting bounces, I took my eye off white for 2 seconds because I figured I must be missing something, saw a gorilla, and kept on counting. and now they tell me they don't believe me!

we watched this video in psychology last semester. . I forget what it was trying to prove, something about we can get wrapped into one thing and tottally miss something we should find strange.

Same thing, at one moment there was more "black" in the area than in the start.

Since I only was supposed to focus on the white, it didn't matter what that black stuff was.
