Coumpter Automatically Restarts even after Reformat

It was worse before the reformat and the problem still persists. Do you guys have an idea to what is wrong with my computer? My computer is an eMachines T2778 w/ upgradses of:

2x 512 MB RAM Sticks
5.1 Audio Card
Radeon 9800 Pro Video Card
Network Card

When and how does it restart, and are there any error messages?

Does it get into Windows before restarting or does it restart during the initial POST process (before Windows even begins loading)?

If it is restarting after loading Windows, are there any error messages?

Try clearing the boot sector with some program (probably on the CD that came with your hard drive). Worked for me. I may be talking out of my ass, but I'm pretty sure there are such things as boot sector viruses.

And yeah, could also be a RAM/power supply/hard drive error.

It restarting after a format almost definitely makes it a hardware issue. First I would run MemTest on your ram, then run some hard drive diagnostics. If those come up ok I would use something like DBAN to completely format your drive again

Yep, probably a hardware issue. Could be bad RAM or power supply.

it used to happen to mine and it got fixed oncei replaced the PSU. however, it's worth noting that i tested the RAM first before investing on the new Power Supply. run MemTest overnight, just in case.
