Couldn't flash the mouse, freezing..

There's a new firmware, 1.1, for the G5 laser mouse but I couldn't flash it. It'll give me a message saying that it's PREPARING TO FLASH and the mouse will freeze forever unless I unplug it and reconnect it.

My mouse is equipped with firmware 1.1 and I had already tried to flash it with two different computers with no success. They are both PIII systems with USB 1.0 ports. Do I need a USB 2.0 port for it to flash. I remember myself flashing the mouse from 1.0 to 1.1 using the same computer without any issues.

Anyway, the newer firmware is supposed to improve the tracking on different surfaces.

Sorry.. The new firmware is 1.2, not 1.1.

Also, when the mouse freezes the LEDs are off and it occurs a few seconds after I pressed the flash button.

This isn't helpful, but have you ever considered not flashing your mouse firmware? Is your mouse not working as it should?

I know it's not going to have any huge or noticeable improvements, but I still want to feel the improvements that a mouse firmware update might offer.🙂

do you have a link to this firmware for the logitech g5 laser mouse?

Thanks for the link. Just flashed mine, and the process worked fine. Are you sure you're letting it complete? I got a found new hardware notice from windows, and then the install hardware dialog, which I ignored as the program instructions said to. After a second or two the flash utility told me to unplug and reconnect the mouse, and all was well.
