Could you please quit disrupting the Super Bowl thread by merging other threads with it?

It was bad enough when it was just other threads related to the Super Bowl, but now it looks like someone merged a thread from the beginning of the season.

This is a conundrum, on one hand we don't want to lock threads if we don't have too but on the other hand we don't want to fill up the forum with numerous threads about the same subject.

that thread is a mess.

too bad it just couldn't have stayed a day after the superbowl comment thread instead a bowl of spaghetti thread.

I hit up this forum hoping someone would have said it. At this point it's a lost cause. I don't know which mod got "merge happy", but they effectively double the size of the post and destroyed any and all chance of having a reasonable debate on there.

Might as well just lock it up and start a new one.

Doesn't this belong in the official Superbowl thread? God knows every other thread that even remotely mentions the Superbowl has been merged there, destroying any continuity the thread had.

I think it's funny that I posted a comment in this very thread saying it would be merged, and it has mysteriously disappeared. I assumed when I didn't see it in my search results that it had been merged.

The sole reason the threads were merged is that some mods are NE fans. They had no problem with 50 NE threads at once at any given time, but once they lost they couldn't handle giving the better team fair treatment.

Even if it was only one play BB should have stayed on the field with his team. What would you think of a ship captain rushing to take the first life boat by himself while his crew was still on deck?

He was part of the Giants organization at one time. It would have been classy to stay on the field to congratulate their players, owners, etc. Instead he left his team to finish the game and ran to hide in the locker room. His team got bitch slapped all day and he turned into one himself before it was over.

Props again to the Giants for systematically dominating NE and flat out kicking their ass all over the field. Even though that great D tired towards the end there was no need to fear, NE choked when the game was on the line.

Dude, let go of the bitterness. Yes, the Squealers were the most over-rated team last year. Yes, they were the most pathetic team in the playoffs. And yes, there finesse running game was pwn'd by the Pat's finesse passing game. Let it go! You keep telling us you're not a troll but currently you're the biggest one here.

When were there multiple NE threads? Certainly not at one of the times I was browsing the forums. There was a point when people started making "official super bowl" threads left and right before they even knew who the two teams were that were going to be in the superbowl. I locked those threads while tidying up OT a bit and Oldsmoboat (IIRC) stickied a thread to put a stop to it. From that point on, I don't recall more than than one thread on the superbowl itself. I wasn't online much that day, or those other threads probably would have been merged much more quickly, before they had a ton of replies.

Don't blame the mods on this one - in forum issues it clearly says " Posts may also be merged into another thread (if they are very similar)".

Personally, I'm all for one consolidated playoff thread starting at the end of the regular season. Then, one superbowl thread, and maybe a superbowl commercial thread (since that's an entirely different discussion.) And, during the football season, perhaps one consolidated "who should I activate this week on my fantasy football team?" and/or one football thread for each weekend.

The hockey fans have been doing this for the last couple years and it's been working great with a consolidated hockey thread.

C'mon DrPizza. We were having some good day after the super bowl posting in The Official SuperBowl thread (which was stickied and then unstickied prematurely) and all of a sudden all these threads were being merged into that thread so that you couldn't follow the current conversations anymore. It was odd that these old threads (they weren't just-created threads) had to be merged when people were excited about the game and the thread was actively being participated in. I think anything from the past month that had the word Super Bowl or Giants was searched for and plopped into that thread in a matter of minutes.

I don't think it was the run of the mill consolidation of threads. It seemed very agenda driven.

I don't know about that, browsing through the thread it seems the main theme is the Patriots suck,The Cheatriots, Pats fans suck, Belicheck sucks and so forth. Seems like there's plenty of continuity to me.

Why would you keep the thread stickied after the event?

If there is enough interest, the thread would be near the top anyhow.

Anyone creating a new thread after the fact should have used some common sense to know that the original thread still existed.

They were just to lazy to scroll to find it and wanted their 5 seconds of fame.

Maybe next year the Mods will suspend anyone that creates a new thread instead of using the primary stickied thread (for any discussion in any forum).

That will solve the problem quickly.

Why not keep it stickied one more day as it was bound to be a big topic of discussion the day after. I mean, should an "Official World Series" thread that was stickied all week be let go after the last out?

Agreed, and they would know especially if the thread was stickied.

But these weren't exactly Super Bowl game threads that were merged. I believe a thread on Super Bowl commercials got thrown in there, and like I said anything and everything to do with the Super Bowl, the teams, got thrown in there even if it wasn't exactly about the Super Bowl, the game, itself.

As mugs said in his original post, it looked like a thread from the beginning of the season was merged into the Super Bowl thread.

I don't know about being too lazy to scroll, but we know we can't rely on searching for a thread to have it come up all the time.

Maybe next year this won't happen.
