Allright, just ordered the Canon A610 along with a Trancend 4B SD Card (it's on sale until the 10th). Should be here in about 4 days. I'm so excited :D

so your one of those 9/10 right? :D

Actually, I am. I'm not a pixel peeping Canon L whore.

Idiot. When you're printing things, every megapixel counts.

not if you're printing at 4x6. :)

btw, I shoot with "L" glass and I'm not a "pixel peeping whore" I probably should be though.

Seriously, how big is the OP really going to print? Keep in mind, we're talking about consumer level P&S's here. For 4x6's and 8x10's the difference between 5 and 6 MP is non-exist.

I've seen 16x20 prints with no loss of quality with an Olympus E-1 which is 5 MP. How much bigger do you need from a pocketcam?

OP, do you have recharchable batteries ?
If not, get Maha Energy MH-C204W charger with 4 or 8 AA Enerex batteries.
This was highly recommended on Canon boards.
They are 2500 mAh NiMH batteries.

Yes, good charger. Powerex/Maha batteries are fine too. Check out www.thomasdistributing.com for battery stuff.

With a highly flexible movie mode, you can create the movie that's perfect for any application. Select from VGA (640 x 480 pixels) and QVGA (320 x 240 pixels) with frame rates of 30 fps and 15 fps for recording up to 1 hour or 1GB.

I assume they mean 30FPS for 320 x 240 and 15FPS for 640 x 480? It's sorta mixed up and I'm not 100% sure what they mean.

I just bought an A610, I love it!!

Video Modes:
640x480 = 30 or 15 FPS
320x240 = 60, 30, or 15 FPS
and some smaller resolution...

Takes great pics and great videos. The flip-out LCD is really handy too for those odd shots.

WTF!!! AFTER my mom orders the A610 for me, she says that she just got a $100 rebate in the mail and if we return the A610 I can get a camera that costs $100 more. The camera was supposed to come today too!! Anyway, I guess I'll either start shopping around for a camera in the $300 range or I'll think of something else I can buy with $100. WTF :| now we have to return it and everything. Oh well :(. How good is the A700? Better than the a610? Also starting to look into the slim ones, is the SD600 any good?

Just stick w/ the A610 and use that extra cash for some accessories. Get a MAHA AA charger w/ the Powerex batteries! I have that combo w/ my A610 and the batteries last forever. It also has a reconditioner on it so that you get the maximum life from your rechargables and keep em goin strong.

I would agree. I haven't used mine much yet, but the A700 seems to be a very nice camera. However I would suggest you do use that extra money on accessories such as a charger, batteries, filter adapter, filters, etc.
