damn blank post

Could you get by if your PRIMARY workstation were degraded to say, a 1st gen pentium200 with 128 MB of RAM?

A 1st gen p90 with 32mb RAM?

A 486?

Work excluding of course.

No, no, and no.

The computer doesn't bother me so much as my display. If i lost this 1800FP, and had to go back to a crappy CRT, i KNOW i would definitely cut down on my computer usage.

More than likely I could. The only time I really need and processor power is when encoding mpg's and that happens twice a week at most.

I've got a pile of Dell systems out there still happily humming along p200 mmx, 128 mb ram, 4-8 mb video cards and small hard drives and the people using them are actually quite happy, those systems work perfectly with broadband and allow their owners to surf, play simple games and do word processing.

as long as they were capable of running my dsl internet. oh and i use winME as my o/s, for crying out loud! i could get by on lesser, yeah 😉

Could I get by if one of my testicles got crushed? Yeah I guess I could, but would I really want to? Probably not.

You guys are weak, My dad has been working on a 266mhz AMD with 256mb of RAM running Windows 98. It was buggy as hell with AIM( which my sister installed, grrr. . . ) but it helped him complete his patents on time, err well, most of the time. 😀 Oh, and he worked with 800x600 on a 19" NEC flat CRT, and his little ATI Rage video card could only do 75mhz for the screen refresh rate, talk about corpal tunnel syndrome, ouch!

never heard of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome from working on a SLOW computer as opposed to a faster one. Learn something everyday!

Why would the display cause Carpal Tunnel syndrome? That's normally from keyboard usage.

No. That is mainly because I use my computer for watching my DVDs. I also don't think a computer that slow would be able to run my 18" LCD at a good resolution.
