Could you do this with Comcast Internet?

I'm wondering if anyone ever tried hooking up two cable modems to one cable line. Like pretend you have a cable line coming out of the wall in your room, and there's another cable line downstairs. The cable modem is on the downstairs computer and I don't feel like always going downstairs to use the internet when I have a cable line coming out of my room.

Should work, but you'd have to pay Comcast to provision two modems. No point in doing that when you can get wireless router for cheap.

it works, as long as the line is live and both modems are provisioned.
i.e., u have to call in and tell them u have another modem and they will bill u for having 2.
otherwise, if u just plug it in, it won't be active.

THe fact that they have Its MAC address limits you to only the ones they know about

uh. no.

you can use any router you want.

regarding the two modem thing: yeah you can do it but you have to pay twice. lots cheaper to just buy a router.
