Could we just print this picture out and use the stamps?

This is the latest sheet of stamps from the USPS.

What do you think? Can we print this out, cut out the individual stamps, and then use them as actual stamps?

Disclaimer: I do NOT condone my suggestion. But I was wondering if it were possible... ;)

That's true but I wonder how often they really check that?

They don't ever. I thought of this a long time ago and watch the post office guy every time I go.

At the post office, they don't seem to do anything with it...just read the numbers on the stamp, punch it into the cash register, then use the cancelling stamp on it...

It might work, but would you really feel good about yourself having robbed the post office and killing babies?

Those would come in handy for sending your letters to the parole board from federal prison ;)

How many times do you think an individual letter is scanned before it's delivered? The post office guy isn't the only one that sees that stamp. Think about the automated equipment reading the US POSTNET barcodes for delivery information. How difficult would it be for them to have a setup to scan for the 'UV or something' to kick out any exceptions (like packages missing stamps, insufficient postage, or a counterfeit stamp)? It's not all done by hand, ya know?

they dont necessarily check at the P.O you know, they could have some scanners somewhere in a sort/distribution facility

Do you even have to ask that? :)

I second the response of the guy who said they could use them for sending letters once they were in federal prison :)

Dang, I imagine that the computer ink costs more than 34 cents to print each individual stamp. Besides, the glossy paper needed would be expensive as well.

Funny, stupid, but not worth it (or jail time)

I can just see it now...you sitting in your jail cell in federal prison, some guy in the next cell over starts a conversation with you. "I murdered 73 people in 18 different states. What're you in for?"

"Uh...I stole stamps..." :)

I don't think most of you realize exactly HOW much mail gets sent through the system every day. Do you think they have time to individually look at each stamp on every letter?

All first class mail gets processed at distribution facilities where the address and stamp are scanned by a computer.

The stamp is encoded so the machine knows its legit.

And believe it or not, the machines use OCR to determine where the letter goes. Hence the reason they want you to use block caps / black on white / POSTNET on every letter you send.

I think he's just curious to see if it would work...and not that he's planning on doing it

What I always wondered is: if I wanted to send a letter to someone, couldn't I just put his name/address in the "to" and "from" areas and drop it in a blue mailbox with no stamp? Don't they return it to him, since there's no postage?

I think I heard a comedian say that once....

oh yeah, i don't condone it either, just curious if it'll work...

this should be posted in [hotdeal forum]
:)

ya'll are aware of the fact that a stamp cost will be increased.
with the current trend... perhaps, in the year 3000 it might be worth the risk. ;)

and as for cheating out on your country...
do some research, there are much better... legal ways.

You need a lesson in real vs nominal value.

Just make your own and call it mail art. The US Post Office will likely leave you alone.
Don't believe me? OK. Go Here
