Could use some help with FaD

kind of off the wall question here but how long would it take to process 1 unit (or whatever the terminology is in this project) on an xp 1800 computer with 256 mb ram? im just throwing that out there because its a free machine that i may have coming open and would like to know a general idea of how much production i could get daily.....

Depends on which project... some projects have quick jobs... others take a day or two... either way they end up giving the same ammount of points as points are issued for cpu time...

Ya it's a nice fair system, and you can gain fast on it. Not over crowded like some of the other DC programs. And I like the fact that the project guys stay in touch with everyone in their forums too.

is there any command line client or is the only windows installation file the one available on the downloads page?

As of right now i think its only the windows installation file... but if you keep everything minimized on the taskbar you should get fairly decent performance... the only other option is linux...

Just the ones there, it wil auto load in yout start programs though, you can run it quiet, by changing the graphic to hidden. FYI dont use as a screen saver... 😉

Supports Multi CPU's and Linux, the reason I moved.

w00t!

The client is very good. It has a lot of similarities to SETI Driver. Just turn off the graphics, let it run in the system tray and set your screensaver to blank. I've only run it on a 1.0GHz P3 system and I'm doing pretty good on the TeAm list. 🙂 Looking forward to the end of SETI 1 so I can put some more power toward this project.

Woohoo! Another member for FaD!

Judging from the stats that Ross has been posting, we only have slightly more than 2 dozen active members. Not bad for a team that should be moving up to 15th soon. 🙂
