I have no experience with this, but I need to build a fairly basic website (for business purposes). I've been recomended 'Adobe Dreamweaver' and told it's fairly easy to use and includes some basic 'templates'. Is there another software solution I should also be considering? I could also use tips as to where I should go for hosting, and basically any general tips that would be helpful to someone who's never designed a website before. I hope to have it up 'live' in less then a months time, ideally. Thank you in advance.

I would agree that dreamweaver is a good tool to use. however that will cost you a couple more hundred dollars I believe.

Might want to consider buying a ready made template. http://www.4templates.com has some nice priced ones.

there are thousands of hosts to pick from. I'm sure other members here can reccomend some good ones for you

firstly, Adobe doesn't have a Dreamweaver program, Dreamweaver is from Macromedia, GoLive is from Adobe :)

secondly, I recommend these forums for any future hosting information:

try out the trial versions of the two programs and see which one you like best. Personally, GoLive is my favorite as its detailed and beginner like as well. Dreamweaver just loves to add more stuff then you really want and doesn't listen to your tables.

danny~!

How basic? Depending on how much you want to do, it might be easier to just learn a bit of html and write it yourself rather than paying (a lot) for a program.

Thank you for the replies so far....I've downloaded trials of both Dreamweaver and Golive and am exploring them a bit. The website itself will be fairly basic....... company info, services offered, a few photos of past work, a contact us tab, and directions.....that's all there is to it really.

As has been noted by another user, Adobe owns Macromedia and are slowly filtering out the brand name.

As for WHT, I feel that the users there rely too much on trends. Basically, everyone goes crazy over the hot host of the month, which usually ends up fizzing out after a few months. Almost every time, this seems to happen.
