This is my current Hardware setup:

P3 Slot 1 @ 750Mhz?100MHZ FSB
512MB SDRAM at 100mhz
60Gig HD @ 7200Rpm
Abit BH6 MB that is 4 years old
Riva TNT2 video card with 16MB Ram its about 4 or 5 years old?

Okay I have both Windows 2000 Pro and Windows XP Pro. Right now I have Windows 98, but I would like to install XP Pro.

Do you think that my current hardware setup will run XP Pro without any major performance slowdown. I have installed W2K pro before and the PC actually speed up a bit, but now I?d like to install XP Pro for the stability over 98. I could still install W2K Pro, but I?d rather go with XP Pro.

Any sugestions or help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks a lot

That setup is fine for xp i was for a long time a fan of 98 heh i thought everything else was crap ( just seems the fastest ) then i moved on to win2k advanced server which is great on stability but slower on performance and certian things dont agree with it either next i moved on to xp which ive been with for a good while now and i think its a great stable and quick performing operating system.. the only thing i want over xp at the moment is xp server hehe oh yes i forgot to mention remember the annoying driver installation that had to be done in 98 haha forget that in xp everything is pretty much autoloaded unless its a really picky piece of hardware..

of all the things ive lost... i miss my mind the most!!!

Definitely XP. It should run without any problems on the system you described. I am typing from a PIII 600, with 128MB RAM and a 5400 RPM HD. The system performs fairly well. I formerly had 256MB RAM in it, which made a huge difference in its overall performance.
